Workshops can be such a luxury as to by unaffordable to many. I work with local funders to be able to offer classes free of charge to local community groups.
We are very flexible and produce workshops to suit community groups. These workshops take place over a number of sessions to suit the individuals, with care taken to provide the space for individuals to enjoy themselves whilst they create and learn.
During summer 2019 we undertook two projects with local young people. One project worked with people leaving care, the other worked with young people from Morningside and Gasgoyne Youth Clubs. The young people got a chance to design and make their own shoes and small leather goods, and we were delighted with their enthusiasm for painting and sewing leather, and more generally for making things.
chose from a wide selection of different coloured leather;
decided what they wanted to create;
used specialist leather paint;
learned hand stitching techniques.
We only work with 100% reclaimed leather, so everything they made was ethical too.
